A few months back we got word that 20th Century Fox was set to adapt Ransom Riggs’ novel Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children for the big screen. We also heard that Tim Burton was circling to direct the project.

According to Deadline, Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class) is currently in talks to pen the novel for the screen and Tim Burton is said to still be circling the project.

The novel follows a “16-year-old whose childhood was filled with stories his grandfather told him about an orphanage for unusual children. Among the residents: a girl who could hold fire in her hands, another whose feet never touched the ground, and twins who communicated without speaking. When his beloved grandfather dies unexpectedly but leaves a message behind for his grandson, the teen heads off to his grandfather’s home on an isolated island off Wales. There he discovers the abandoned remains of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. It is in great disrepair and as Jacob explores its bedrooms and hallways, he can see the children were more than peculiar, they might have been there because they were dangerous. And he can’t shake the feeling they are still lurking around.”

Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping are said to be producing the feature.

Nicolas McCarthy’s The Pact, which debuted at Sundance as a short, will have its feature length premiere at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival in January.

Gearing up for the big debut, Bloody Disgusting was provided with the first ever still from the film featuring a tight shot of star Caity Lotz (“Death Valley,” “Mad Men”).

Agnes Bruckner (Venom, Vacancy 2, The Woods, Kill Theory), Sam Ball (“The Event”), Haley Hudson (“Ghost Whisperer”, Killer Pad) and Kathleen Rose Perkins (“Lie to Me,” “Trust Me”) and Casper Van Dien also star.

In the ghost story said to be in the tradition of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, Dario Argento’s Suspiria and Hideo Nakata’s Ringu, “as a woman struggles to come to grips with her past in the wake of her mother’s death, an unsettling presence emerges in her childhood home.“
